2-day flamenco workshop with Karen Lugo

Friday, December 27, and Saturday, December 28, 2024

The Research cycles workshop series concludes this year with a two-day flamenco workshop, perfect for those looking to end the year by learning something new. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn from one of the most renowned contemporary flamenco artists. Karen Lugo, an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and educator, is coming to Ljubljana for the first time with an intensive, creative, and transformative workshop!

“It’s important to take the time to listen to what wants to naturally emerge in our bodies. We will work subtly, through listening to the body, allowing it to express beyond the control of our minds.” – Karen Lugo

Technique workshop (for universal levels, 80 minutes)
Friday: 5:30 PM – 6:50 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM – 11:20 AM

In this module, we will explore:

  • Coordination exercises
  • Footwork and weight transfer techniques
  • Exercises focused on expressive flamenco movement

Choreography workshop (for intermediate and advanced levels, 90 minutes)
Friday: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Saturday: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

In this module, we will explore:

  • Short choreographic sequences
  • Practical tools for tablao performance
  • Understanding the body’s form across different flamenco styles (palos)

Both modules are designed as a cohesive experience, combining technical skills with creative and practical work. The difficulty level will be adjusted to the group, and the learning method in the second module will include individual guidance.

Join us and discover the freedom of movement in contemporary flamenco!
