Awakening potential with Kristýna Peldová

Thursday, February 8 – Sunday, February 11, 2024

Led by dancer and choreographer Kristýna Peldová, this workshop integrates various dance techniques, somatic exercises, mindfulness principles, and anatomical knowledge. Participants will explore a wide spectrum of human body movement individually and in groups, actively applying their anatomical knowledge to better understand and feel the mechanics of our dancing instrument. The workshop respects the physical uniqueness of each body and the authenticity of individual expression.

We will start with an active exploration of the musculoskeletal system, including muscles, bones, joints, and tendons. Our goal is to understand the musculoskeletal system as a structure that supports the body in space, generates movement, and maintains balance. Participants will delve into the flow of movement/dance based on physical laws, which is economical for the dancer, not forced, and has its own structural strength and ability to respond to stimuli from the environment.

The second part of the workshop will focus on performativity. We will explore improvisational methods and techniques, including fundamental concepts such as time, rhythm, space, relationships, dynamics, and context/story. We will seek operational strategies in the format of instant composition, a mindful creative process that responds to the moment and focuses on ideas that can immediately crystallize into action. Emphasizing the creative concept of “HERE and NOW,” participants will experiment in roles as performers and choreographers.

SCHEDULE
